I was scanning my sketchbook so I could upload them to Instagram. The scanner was at the end of the corridor, when I was in the middle of the scan, the current slammed a door and I was scared, causing the image of the scanner to be distorted. I looked around and waited for people to return to their classes. When I was finally alone, I started dragging my hands through the scanner, moving them away, moving them fast, slowly …
When I got home, I downloaded the images and loved them, so I came back the next day and did it again. This work, entitled Scanned Hands, is a series of 20 photographs taken without a camera (scanner) in black and white.
This work taught me that the best ideas come from mistakes.
