the plants do not speak

My grandmother is one of the hardest working people I know and I wanted to give her something special this Christmas. I found a poem Rosalía de Castro, a Galician poet (1830-1885), and decided to illustrate it in honor of my Galician roots on her part. The poem deals with natural themes and the journey that a woman takes during her life. I found it very beautiful and very inspiring, I enjoyed doing this work as it was a great opportunity to experiment with different styles and explore the capabilities of graphite.

This project is about a small fanzine that I made for my grandmother for Christmas.

«There goes the crazy dreaming
With the eternal spring of life and fields,
And soon enough, soon enough, she will have gray hair,
And she sees, trembling, terrified, that frost covers the meadow»
